Hokkaido is the perfect location to develop the data center industry
Data centers are requiring greater and greater amounts of electricity, and the abundant renewable energy produced in Hokkaido will be able to support the energy needs of many data centers.
In addition, as data centers are behind the cloud-based infrastructure we have come to rely on, we must take efforts to bring multiple data centers onto the same network.
As the sea route would be placed in the north of Asia, only short submarine fiber-optic cables are needed to connect it to North America and Europe. Going forward, we plan to install fiber-optic cables throughout Hokkaido, creating a “Hokkaido Data Center Campus Network” that connects data centers to each other.
In the future, we would like to make Hokkaido the data center hub of Asia.
